Training/Workshop

MOTIVATION:

  • The future is not a faithful representation of what we believe it will be. It looks very different from the past or the present.
  • Globalization and the continuous development of information technology have had and will continue to have an important impact on the labor market and career.
  • The career is no longer a static acquisition today, but on the contrary a very dynamic one, just like the labor market.
  • Employers are increasingly focusing not only on "hard" skills but also on "soft" skills.
  • Success and career development depend on a multitude of factors, based on performance.
  • Career allows us to give meaning to life, to have continuity and coherence, allowing us to foreshadow the future.

In choosing a career, it is important to know the factors that can be changed or modified. I often cannot change the social and economic context or the demand of the labor market. What I can change and influence are my personal factors: the skills I have, the values I have, my interests, my motivation and my attitude towards work.

Employers, benefiting from a wide range of selection, are constantly refining their recruitment methods, so it is necessary that those who participate in these selection processes are equally skilled in developing their capacity for self-knowledge, the skills they have, and how they can be combined to ultimately deliver success.

CICOC workshops want to propose a framework for change and personal development that will ultimately contribute to the success of students in the labor market.

Brief description of the workshops

Self-knowledge and career

Whether you're transitioning from one job to another or looking for your first job, self-assessment is the first step in finding the career that works best for you. The more time you spend understanding yourself, the more motivated you are, the more informed you will be and the more productive your job search process will be. Start thinking about your interests, abilities, values, and personality traits but also life experiences that are meaningful to you.

Research shows that the most satisfied people in their careers are those who manage to find a job that is close to their values and that contributes to the meaning that we each attribute to our own lives.

Career counselors can help you better understand your strengths and areas of interest, but also identify possible options by interpreting assessments and counselling.

Identify your abilities, interests, values and personality traits. They reflect what you know, what you want, what you value, your attitude toward work, toward your own person, and toward others around you.

Decision making and career

Sometimes we are put in a position to choose one job or another, a company or another, a job that I am qualified for or one that brings me a higher income. Decision making is an essential skill for future leaders but also for those who want to be successful in their future career, starting from the first interview. This has a special significance because the consequences of such a decision can affect our whole life. Decision making involves identifying and choosing alternatives based on one's own values and preferences. Making a decision presupposes the existence of alternatives, but more than that, the choice of one that corresponds most to the goals, objectives, desires, values.

During the workshop we will discover together decision-making styles and factors that block us from making a career decision.

Communication-assertiveness and feedback

Communicating is probably an asset that we don't use long enough. It is important to develop your communication skills with others but also to learn how to interpret the information received from others.

Good communication skills are essential for an employer. These skills rank first in employers' job listings for future employees.

These include written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. The ideal candidate is the person who can express his ideas clearly and concisely, can argue them, can convey enthusiasm and energy through his message. Relationship skills start and are based on your way of communicating.

Effective problem-solving strategies

Each of us "benefits" from enough problems in both personal and professional life. We can't avoid them, no matter how much we want.

An employer is directly interested in how you solve a problem that may arise during your career. There are even exercises in the assessment centers that are meant to highlight how the person responds to various problems.

Of course, each of us has a set of skills that help us overcome critical situations, problems, or conflicts. But there are some things / strategies that we would rather know.

Why? Because we often consume our energy when we identify the causes of a problem and not to solve it. Because we often prefer to act in our usual way, without paying attention to the whole process.

During the workshop we try to bring to the forefront new, effective problem-solving strategies, but also to create a framework in which everyone can practice the ways already known.

Time management

In fact, we do not manage time !! We manage our actions to fit in with the time we have. The day has only 24 hours, 14,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds. How you use your time depends on your skills.

The way you spend your time is a result of the way you value your time and your priorities. If you have internalized these priorities you will be able to perceive the important and non-urgent activities (quadrant II) as natural, and in which it is worth investing time. We will have more and more things to do and the time will be the same.

Time management is an essential skill that helps you keep track of the activities you have and at the same time helps you keep stress to a minimum.

Our workshop will provide you with the necessary information so that you can prioritize your activities in the future.

How do I deal with intense emotions?

There are times when we put reason before emotions. However, we must recognize that emotions are an equally important part of our lives, and they are a major factor in our actions, although we are not always aware of their presence. These make us more inclined to do something that makes sense in a particular context.

In the interview or in the recruitment process (especially in the assessment center) you may be put in situations where you need to show emotional control. Because the employer wants to make sure that his future employee is able to cope with stressful situations that involve strong emotions.

Emotional self-control is the ability to respond to the constant demands of the environment using emotions manifested in a socially accepted manner. In order not to go to extremes, to be false, too rigid, it is necessary to be flexible to allow spontaneous reactions, as well as to postpone certain spontaneous reactions.

How do I cope with stress?

Employers are often looking for people to withstand and cope with crisis situations, in which the stress is high. At a job interview you may even be asked to describe your behavior in such a situation.

We face stressors in both our personal and professional lives. In particular, occupational stress can sometimes be so harmful that it can lead to mental and physical exhaustion. That is why effective stress management is an asset that we can have in dealing with various stressful events.

Stress management is the ability of each of us to cope with everyday pressures that go beyond our ability to respond.

In the workshop we will focus on identifying the causes of these pressures and then rebalancing and reducing the prolonged reaction of the body to internal or external stressors, by applying specific techniques.

This way, not only can you learn something useful for your professional career, but you can use the information and strategies from the workshop in your personal life.

Efficient ways of presentation

No matter where I am, what my role is in a group or organization, I can sometimes be put in a position to make a presentation, to speak in public. I can't constantly refuse such tasks, just because I don't want to or I don't think I can handle a group.

Our workshop will help you improve your ability to make an effective presentation.

It is often valued not only the content of the presentation, but also the way in which it is made.

Whether it's a bachelor's thesis, a project, or public speaking, we need some insights on how to present it.

Teamwork

Depending on our personality and training, we can carry out various professional activities. Sometimes we feel better when we work alone, other times we feel that we need a whole team to complete an activity.

But it is not so easy to work in a team, and the employers in the labor market want employees who are as versatile as possible, that's why during their recruitment they are looking for possible employees to prove their ability to work in a team.

Although we are social beings, we live in communities, in groups, teamwork can involve a stress of adaptation but also of tuning to the style and way of working of each member.

In the workshop we will discover each role we can play in a team, what are the stages a group / team goes through, and last but not least we will do exercises to practice our group work.

Skills Assessment Center

The Assessment Center is a modern and complex method of assessing skills and performance, which allows to obtain information about the general skills (soft skills) and specific skills (hard skills) of the participants and their development potential, in order to select them for a job available within an organization.

This method can be used as part of the recruitment process or as part of the development and promotion process within a company.

Several observers use a whole series of techniques (specific simulations) derived from the specifics of the respective job in order to evaluate the behavior of the participant.

In this workshop you will learn more about what the Skills Assessment Center means and how to behave in such an assessment situation.

How do I cope with an interview?

The invitation to an interview means that you have passed the first phase of the recruitment process: your CV has been viewed and you have made a good impression, or at least you are considered as a possible employee.

As you probably know, the INTERVIEW is a procedure in which you will be face to face with the employer or the persons meant to recruit staff for that position.

In our workshop you will be able to find out and learn effective ways of behaving and responding during an interview, also our workshop can help you perceive differently the experience of an interview, to be more confident and more in control of your emotions.

The INTERVIEW is a stage that should not be underestimated, so more information will help you cope better with such an event.

The interview may seem like a stressful situation and we lack control over it.

In reality, however, through prior training, we can prevent these strong emotions, we can control them and thus, we can gain control over a part of the interview situation.

Be open to new, be open to learning ...

Lifelong learning involves a continuous expansion of the skills we have, through learning and information. Life is constantly changing and it would be better to adapt both personally and professionally.

Opening up to the new and maintaining a close connection with what is happening in the business environment keeps us alive to some extent. Because we do not want to become automated in the work we do, but on the contrary, it would be preferable to develop it and grow.

We hope that our workshops will meet your needs as future employees, but also ensure a higher employability in the labor market, taking into account the growing demands of employers.
