Vision
The Geomatics and Environmental Research Center aims to become a recognised hub for interdisciplinary research that turns data about land and the environment into knowledge of value to the community. By bringing together expertise in geomatics, cadastre, surveying, photogrammetry, hydrology, regional development and environmental engineering, the research center seeks to develop methods and tools that address practical challenges: managing land and infrastructure, improving public transport, assessing natural and human-induced risks, protecting water resources and preserving cultural heritage.
We want our research to support better-informed decisions by public authorities, organisations and businesses through geospatial databases, analyses, models and impact studies. The Geomatics and Environmental Research Center will encourage the involvement of students and early-career researchers, collaboration across disciplines, and partnerships with institutions in Romania and abroad. It will also seek to develop its research facilities and secure funding for relevant, sustainable projects.
By publishing its findings, participating in scientific events and sharing knowledge with wider society, the Geomatics and Environmental Research Center aspires to strengthen the contribution of “1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia to the understanding and responsible management of land and the environment.
